Spring!
No complaints from me, but the mild weather during my lunch-time run felt a bit different than the temperatures with which I’ve grown accustomed to over the past few months.
Finally, winter running is behind us.
This lady is awesome.. so very wise.

This will be a big weekend for me and my wife. We will run in our first race of the year, the St. Patty’s Run Green 8K in Raleigh, NC with a dear friend that we will be visiting. Note: we acknowledge that this is not the first race we have registered for this year, but never mind that. We’ll also enjoy family and friends throughout the weekend which also includes the season’s second installment of the greatest rivalry in college basketball, Duke vs. UNC.
I could wax poetically about how college basketball, this rivalry in particular, has been a significant part of my life. But that is deserving of its own post. Despite the fact that this has been primarily a running blog, I should at some point let my guard down and tell you how I feel about what I regard as some of life’s finer things, like the ACC Basketball Tournament in the Greensboro Coliseum, fall football Saturdays in the South, B’s Barbecue, and majestic Carolina pine trees.
But in the meantime, look for a race recap sometime in the coming days.
Running With A Friend
Last week I mentioned that I registered for the Marine Corp Marathon. As many of you know, the simple act of inputting your name, address, and credit card number and then hitting submit can bring about a unique sort of adrenaline. Of course, that held true on Wednesday. But in addition to the usual rush, I was and continue to be stoked about the fact that one of my close friends will be accompanying me on the journey to 26.2 that will culminate on October 30th.
Geography, he lives in DC while I live in NYC, will keep us from training together, but I look forward to having someone to commiserate with through the highs and lows of marathon training. What’s more, it will be great to not only have spry spectators welcoming me at the finish line, but a race-beaten buddy as well.
My Entrepreneurial (Ad)Venture
The running dialogue, pun intended, about my running exploits has come to a halt over the past few weeks. That is in large part due to work, which I’m excited to announce is an entrepreneurial venture entitled Points Per Game. It is something that I’ve been working on for a while, but product development, marketing, and general administrative duties have picked up in the last several weeks.
Some of you may recall that I described myself as a digital media professional and aspiring entrepreneur in my introductory post. Well, I’m finally beginning to feel as though I can take the “aspiring” qualifier out of that description. Now my aspirations are to have a product in Beta in the coming weeks.
About the venture, Points Per Game’s objective is to help sports fans find and contribute to their team’s real-time conversation. It’s a large market. Fortunately, I’m working with a rock stars to address it. You can follow our progress at the home page and or follow us @pointspergame, on Tumblr and on Facebook.
What’s more, my posts on this blog will probably begin to mention both my exploits with this venture in addition to running in the park.
Boston Marathon Announces New Qualifying Times, Registration Process
This is big news, people.
The Boston Marathon has announced new qualifying times and a new registration process. The marathon will institute a two-week, rolling registration for 2012 that will reward runners with faster qualifying times. In 2013, the BAA will lower all qualifying times by 5 minutes. Stay tuned for more information.
Belgian runner Stefaan Engels set a Guinness World Record after crossing the finish line of his 365th consecutive marathon on Saturday.
